League want to keep the sponsors happy so that they want to keep up the deal next time.

Barclays will also spend money on links with the LMA to help build relationships with the managers.

It's the same with press, they'll look after journos e.g. Sponsor their trade unions etc.

Remember rightly or wrongly the sponsors help fund a lot of football so deserve their name checks!
