The weirdness of iTunes. MiJulies Ipod Classic what I bought her for Christmas last year

has repeatedly refused to appear in iTunes despite the laptop seeing it. I've spent feckin hours going through all the solutions on Apple support to no avail. Took it into work and connected it to my work pc and it instantly appeared in iTunes and synched a couple of albums. Now connected to her laptop and it's fine and synching the library.
Makes you think, duntut?
