This McAlpine stuff seems very strange to me. Why does he suddenly get the wrong guy now?

Questions from social media seem to be:

Has the establishment payed him off and as such also bought Newsnight down in the process - which would be very handy for those want retribution or protection?

or

Did the guy actually make a mistake?
