An answer to a problem that doesn't exist

At what point did standing up become considered a dangerous thing to do?

I used to stand at Carrow Road as a kid on an old milk crate. I'm 31 so not that long ago!

If a 10 year old kid can stand safely at a football match while balancing on a plastic crate, why do adults now need to be surrounded by safety barriers?
