Thing is though the stats on long balls are not that helpful

(although they generally do all show Stoke play a lot) as long ball is defined as any pass over 25 yards which actually isn't that long.

We did play quite a few long balls in some games but i am confident that we do not play (and did not play last season) anything like the type of football i have seen them play the last few times I've seen us play Stoke away. The only team i have ever seen that had a vaguely comparable style (in fact possibly worse) was Boothroyd's Watford side.
