Just seems laboured at the moment.
We're constructing moves that are pleasing on the eye and result in good openings but the speed of play is such that opposition defence / keeper always seem well set to block or repel quite comfortably. Only wes seems capable of opening up the opposition with any tempo to really catch them out and too many of our moves seem to start from braiders sitting deep.
I understand why hoots is trying to make us more solid but I just think the ball needs to be moved more quickly in the final third to open teams up and wes can't do it on his own. I'd like to see Howson as one of the 3 in the 4-2-3-1 rather than one of the 2 sitting deeper which clearly wasn't working. It means ditching one of the wingers but we've played well without two wingers before.
Some or the snappy wes / howson combo play against villa at home last year was cock twitchingly beautiful
