what is the point of Sunderland

they have nothing about them whatsoever. Stoke are relentlessly dull, but they do manage to be so brutally ugly and negative that they have a character. Sunderland are just as boring but not unpleasant enough to dislike, so they just sort of exist. Too good to go down, nowhere near good enough to challenge for Europe.
And before anyone points it out, I am well aware ghat is what we aspire to be...
