Re Spurs game pricing

Someone made the point that a full ground is a happy, profitable ground. Too true, but we don't seem to have learned by pricing the Spuds game at ?30 a pop.

Back in the days when just 10,000 or so of us were bothering to show up for most games, we played Reading on a wet Tuesday night - and introduced Kids For A Quid. 19,000 turned up, the game was delayed to get them all in.

It is my firm belief that that evening set the foundations for the seemingly endless near-full houses since then, even down to Div 1. In fact, the trend was continued as my son and his 6 or 7 mates, who travelled on the bus from Downham to every game, got their season tickets for ?17 !!! And they became proper season ticket holders later.

Lessons learned, lessons forgotten. If we aren't careful, we will start to see empty swathes of seats which would be better filled at almost any price. It isn't just the ?15 or so the club pockets when they sell cut price tickets. It's the programmes, the pies, the pints, the parking and the atmosphere. And a golden investment in a future fanbase.
