Norwich Utd vs Mildenhall Town
Plantation Park, Blofield (also home to Norwich Ladies FC)
Thurlow Nunn Premier Division aka the Ridgeons League aka the Jewson League aka the Eastern Counties Football League
Level 9 on the football pyramid (the one Lowestoft Town were stuck in for so long until recently)
The Planters lost 1-2 thanks to two late goals from Mildenhall who started the day in 2nd (United in 6th). United scored early on with a decent curled long range effort but didn't make the most of some good attacking play down the left wing. Mildenhall certainly made the Planters keeper work from the close of the first and then regularly in the second.
Nice little 6 mile bike ride along the country roads to the ground. Attendance was a bit sparse but there was a healthy collection of proper old boys, wearing proper old boy clothes and smoking proper old boy cigars and pipes. Nice clubhouse too with the bar upstairs so there's a big bay window you can watch the game from in the warm. Or some nice wooden benches in the stand alongside the pitch if you want to keep it retro. Nice little set-up with training pitches and a 5-a-side court amongst their facilities. They did a football card too but we didn't win. Programme was ?1. Luckily they play in yellow and blue so we didn't have the cheering on the blues issue like some others I've read below. Oh: was ?6 on the 'gate' (there was no gate, just a man at the doorway). Think there were cheap tickets for kids & OAPs but we weren't paying attention to those, obviously.
