Aaran Lines was nominally an attacking left winger with the knack of looking half-decent in trials, yet f**king awful as soon as he got a contract. Slow, lazy, touch of a rapist, unable to cross, unable to beat a man.
He got a number of contracts through being Wynton Rufer's golden boy, noteably a youth contract at Werder Bremen. While Wynton was a superb player, as a manager he appeared soley concerned with his mates, and who was going to his church above ability, form and logic. As Lines was one of the "God Squad", needless to say he played every week when Wynton was in charge. Since then, he's bounced around the lower German divisions, Poland, Korea (I think, briefly), and more recently the US.
He also managed to piss off a friend-of-a-friend, who I know vaguely, NZ's only FIFA-registered agent. According to Kevin, he did a lot of work to find Lines a contract, who then buggered off and didn't bother paying him. To quote the man himself on the subject "You like to think that all footballers are good blokes, and 99% of them are. Unfortunately, some are just f**kwits..."
