He is referring to a clause saying Lambert could "seek permission to talk to other clubs in the summer."

Quite how he knows what any clause says is anyone guess but obviously a clause which says he can "seek permission." Is not the same as one which says he can speak to any other club.

In my view if he had a clause which said the latter then he didn't need our permission to talk. If he had a clause which said the former then surely there must have been circumstances in which we could refuse permission otherwise what is the point in a clause saying he had to seek permission.

The only way i can think that the relevant clause would be an issue would be if it expressly stated that we couldn't withold consent for him to speak with certain clubs in certain circumstances and this fell within those circumstances.
