Having a squad with really good depth has its own problems though

I really don't think Hughton knows his best 11 or even his best formation. With Lambert you knew pretty much what you were going to get; diamond or 4-4-2 at home, diamond or 5 in the midfield away.

It seems to me that Hughton is still learning about which players play best together and which positions and systems they're most suited to. Obviously understandable with a new manager but you could argue that the new squad depth has just made it even more confusing for him
