WORTHY CALLS FOR STRENGTH
CITY boss Nigel Worthington called for solidarity and strength from everyone connected with Norwich City after yet another disappointing result in the Championship, writes JAMES BIGG.
The Canaries slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday, a resut which leaves them well off the play-off pace and looking anxiously over their shoulders.
City were booed from the pitch with chants of "what a load of rubbish" at the final whistle.
But in truth City could have been out of sight at half time, with a number of clear-cut chances again going begging.
But the second half performance failed to live up to the first, with Wednesday holding firm to grab their winner.
Worthington said he was bitterly disappointed to lose.
"It's a fact of life at the moment that we created enough chances in that first half to have won the game," he said.
"But it's not dropping for us at the moment. I was disappointed with the second half in that we let Sheffield Wednesday back into the game.
"We need to get our heads down and keep working at it."
And Worthy said he was dealing with the personal pressure the current results were putting on him.
"I'm fine," he said. "If everyone else is as strong as me in the football club we will be fine.
"What will help is if the supporters stay behind us. I understand them venting their frustration and at the end of the day my job is on the line and I will work as hard as I can with the staff to put it right."
