Can I just say, uncles are very underrated these days, but having had several close by in my childhood, I can highly recommend them as a source of pop, sweets, apples, home made wooden toys, a Saturday sixpence (!) being a male role model, lots of love, conker string, rides on tractors, dogs and a comforting arm when I fell out of a tree.

Of course, if the children concerned are girls, that changes a bit !!
