and that it was something that we desperately needed during the final third of last season.
It's nice to know that when we are utterly useless on the ball/going forward we can actually rely on some sort of resiliance at the back. Last season it was a case of counting down the time until the first goal was conceeded. This time around I'm expecting plenty of clean sheets, especially with Ruddy there when our defence does make a rare mistake.
Having said that, I think that Lambert's tinkering with team personel (as you touched on) had a lot to do with our poor run in as much as anything. Giving Ward a run in the team when he was regularly poor while trying to bed in Ryan Bennett at the same time wasn't the best of ideas.
