It's great that disabled people should get into sport and it's bloody impressive to see their will power etc
But as a sporting spectacle it leaves me pretty cold on the whole. The blind football was just comic, sadly. Wheelchair tennis, wheelchair rugby - fine, great for them to do - but I don't want to watch it, really, because it's just nowhere near as good as able bodied tennis or rugby. And there are other issues too - the categorisation of disabilities, and the blade technology rows just for starters.
So I don't watch much of it and when I do I quite quickly get bored. I deeply resent the constant propaganda from the BBC that this makes me a bad person, as well - all their cheer leading going on and on and on about how this is just as good as the Olympics, pretending that the whole country is just as excited as we were about Ennis and Hoy and Mo ... It's just bollocks and it annoys me. I know they're trying to stir up interest but thd basic fact is that the sport on offer isn't a very good spectacle, just like the women's World Cup - but just like that, we're all supposed to say how fantastic it is. Grrr.
