if you found some kid had broken into your living room and was unplugging the tv - and then when you challenged him dropped the tv and tried to leg it out the window, you wouldnt think about shooting/killing him would you? If however he grabbed a knife and started trieing to stab you you'd quite rightly defend yourself but whatever means available.....
