I think....

the more recent cases show the justice system show as much empathy to anyone who has been put in this position.... what f**ked tony martin was that it was evident that he shot the burglars outside his house, in the back, whilst running away....

if you defended yourself in your own house against a burgler who attacked you, killed him by hitting him over the head with a bottle or whatever, theres a very high chance the court would be very lenient if your lawer could convince a jury you acted in self defence and used minimum force.
