After Saturday, that was the time to make the change, no question. No-one would have thought it a "knee jeerk" reaction, no-one would have thought us hasty, most people would have seen it as an act done by an ambitious club who had given him time and money to keep us in the Prem and then a further chance to get us back up again.
The backing from Delia and Michael, likewise Munby, they wouldn't have done that if they didn't expect to keep him here for the rest of the season. We will continue to muddle through it mnow, win a game, lose a couple, win, win, draw, lose, lose, that sort of thing, real mid-table stuff, tedious but just enough to keep him in the job and bear up THEIR "excuse" that its hard to "adapt" to life in this league, remembering, of course, this is our 10th season out of 11 in this league and with players who have spent most of their careers in this league anyway!
Indeed, I think the whole "adjusting to the league" excuse is ridiculous, you could apply that to Leeds when they went down, and, if they do this season, Everton, but not us, come on!
This was a telling week and it told us a lot about our club and the thoughts of the "powers that be". More 'patience', more 'prudence' and, with it, little change and little sign of ambition.
The Charlton "model"? Do me a favour! And Charlton!
