From reading that again. Eadie sounds like someone who isn't actually depressed

but has a fair amount of social anxiety, hence when he went to post office, he couldn't look the guy in the face

That's probably because he used to be a footballer, and most people know who he is, and he doesn't have the social energy to be nice to everybody who clocks him in the street

It appears this is something that has got to him, to the point where he's struggled to cope with every day situations

There's an awful lot of people like that up and down the country who go through that every day, but they need to work, and have to fight it through the basic need to survive

People in very good jobs I'm convinced have the exact same social anxiety, but they are in a very good job, and have an office of their own to work in quiet
