So, depending on your perspective..

We have either recently signed 14m worth of central defenders (Bassong previously sold for 8m and Turner for 6m), which must make us a significantly better team, and means we are really giving it a go this season.

or

We have just blown out the wage structure on two defenders who have seen better days, and this is the beginning of the end for the team of lower division players with a point to prove.

The reality, is probably somewhere in between.

I think the key here is Hoots ability to get the best out of a defense (including two r's) that, on paper at least, is the best to ever wear a City shirt.
