I think Hughton summed up the root of the problem in his post match interview..

He said something along the lines of "we are up against teams that have technically better players".
All the work rate and honesty in the world will only take you so far I'm afraid and that is why I feel that unless we bring in some decent players before the window shuts then we will be relegated.
Hell even Blackburn looked better than us last season.
