the defense was a worry last season

I know it is early days, but I can't think of any player who has stood out as being a rock at the back.

The new chap Bennett and Ayala both looked raw. Whitbread and Ward, experienced but not Premiership level. Barnett, lacking in quality.

Tierney looked good coming forward. Martin struggled. And bradley Johnson has not looked as solid as his early form would suggest.
