We haven't even played a single competitive game. lambert's tactical genius solely entended to playing the diamond formation (hardly new) or chucking on lots of strikers at the end of games to salvage late goals. He generally did the right thing at the right times and is an excellent manager but it is hardly rocket science is it. The defence was ropey all season and if you look at the stats about how many saves Ruddy made, how often teams hit the woodwork etc you could argue we were also helped by a healthy dose of poor fortune.
I can understand why fans (including myself) are a little apprehensive but to do so is to buy into the theory that our success was all about Lambert being a genius and getting players to play well above their actual ability. I think we should have a bit more faith in our players than that and also in Hoot.
