I'm really hoping we aren't going down the trendy route of the lone striker
I think to be effective all the strikers we have need a partner alongside them,
Holt linking with Vaughan at pboro being a good example.
Being defensively better is important but
not at the expense of attacking options
Ajax being a good example
Although a good side, we will be playing better sides than them this coming season
Personally I think the lone striker option only seems to look good when exceptional sides play it.
Other sides just seem to be sucked deeper and deeper until lumping the ball upfield just to release a bit of pressure,with the ball invariably coming straight back because there is no help if the lone man does get the ball
I just hope were not going down the route of two banks of four ala England this summer, organised, hard to break down, but ultimately dull and relatively ineffective.
I hate lone strikers.
