NBTTT - re Melolontha Pectoralis's post below about the nationality of Mo Farah

When I read Brandy's post I too thought "but surely Farah *is* a superb African" - but understand, please, that that thought didn't come with nationalist undertones, it was simply a reflection that one can be British and African at the same time.

And at the risk of ever being seen to publicly agree with the Git, he's right: Mo does feel British to us. But why? I think it's because we believe him. We didn't believe Zola Budd. She didn't feel British and iirc she was off home again pretty much as quickly as she could.

There've been others: I thought Alan Lamb felt like a Brit even though he never sounded remotely like one; whereas Graeme Hick, to me, was always wearing a badge of convenience.

So, for me, if anyone wants to compete for Britain and wants to engage in general Britishness, then they're a Brit, regardless of religion or attire, so long as we never get a whiff that they don't mean it.
