Olympic opening ceremony fireworks from the firing position...

Wine guy I deal with was part of the fireworks team & took this video....

"I have returned from a few weeks annual leave this week during which time I was lucky enough to work on the firework display for the opening of the London Olympics. If you are interested in seeing what something on this scale looks like from close range please take a look at this video I recorded. Smoke quickly smothers the scene but it gives a good idea of the intensity of what we set off!"
