think that's too harsh

all we've had so far is outside chances of medals because of the competition, and the olympics is only every 4 years and can be a small window when swimmers are at their peak

they're not devastated because in most cases they know they've done their best. dunno why we expect to be the best tbh. we throw a lot of resources at cycling and rowing while other countries don't take it so seriously. swimming is the main olympic sport for australia and huge in the states. then there's china with a billion people.
