breakaway when he has no finishing prowess whatsoever instead of protecting the fastest sprinter in the world would've been plain daft. Not only that but no-one actually advertised the tactics they were obvious and any team with Cav in it on a flatish course (whatever anyone will have you believe, nine repetitions of Box Hill are nothing like Alpe d'Huez which is what the BBC were saying at lunchtime. I've ridden both and trust me I'll take nine trips up Box Hill with a rest between each one rather than Alpe d'huez any day!!) would've done precisely the same. If these tactics were so dubious how come 75% plus of stage race flat courses end in sprints?
