Cycling at race pace is about using energy efficiently

Apart from when you're climbing, most of your energy goes into aero drag. If you're in the leading few bikes of a group, you do most of that work (the guys in the group are in your wake, and beasically freewheeling). That was the way it was for GB for all today's race, apart from the first few kms. When we got to the circuit, with the 9 climbs, 6 minutes down, I thought is was a lost cause.
