No, of course not - not at the wages Malky & Iwan would presumably have been on

But it left the team devoid of natural leaders - hard to quantify but I think it counted for *enough* when the going got tough (about 6 or 7 games in) and then even tougher (post Xmas). Malky also had the knack of scoring the odd important goal. Not the only thing that went wrong last season; but I'd suggest it was a fairly significant factor.

We're still suffering too, although I hear Hughes is filling the role to some extent (whatever doubts there are over his ability)
