Wiggins

After all the posts yesterday, there's still one thing I don't quite understand. Why do people say that Wiggins' achievement was the greatest ever by a British sportsman? I agree it was utterly fantastic, and I know no British man has ever done it before. But since someone does it every year (in other words, it is not inherently exceptional, like being the first person to climb Everest, or to do a mile in less than 4 minutes, or win however many Golds at a single Olympics) why is the fact that Wiggins has done it so much more extraordinary than the fact that someone else did last year, and someone else will do it next year?
