is because it's been fed to them, morning noon and night on rolling news
It just happens to be a sport that isn't expensive to buy, and if Sky or subscription channels have other sports, they're not pushed so much
It silently shows up how the BBC can't afford the "whippet" fans sports, to the level that professional darts is even priced out of the BBC's budget
I'm not chosing to diss the sport, or not "get it", even though I don't. I'm just saying what's strikingly obvious
