The thinking behind free schools is questionable

Particularly the whole profiteering aspect. However, that article really is a non-story - they asked the head if he's planning to teach creationism in science and he said absolutely not. So what it boils down to is: a group of individuals has beliefs and want to set up a school, but will have to subscribe a controlled curriculum. They might as well as have given it the headline 'Group sets up free school'. What the story is really getting at is whether schools should all be lay (like in France), which is a very valid debate.
