Indeed. That's why I said

"cycling is an endurance event with lots of money at stake, and so has had massive problems with drugs".

Personally I think the money is a big part of it - it was a completely professional and commercial sport from the start, unlike most other endurance sports. And there will always be lots of money in it, because there's lots of expensive kit (bikes) to be sold on the back of it. Again, unlike most other endurance sports.

But posting to articles written about the problem is a lot more productive / interesting than just repeatedly posting "What was he on? Oh, a bike - silly me." every time someone mentions cycling.
