Ordinarily though, there would be a surge of interest in a band/musician following his/her death.

Now fans are campaigning to get a song to number one because someone fell in the canal having just been to their gig. Ker-ching for the band and their reps!

Being quite a sentimental sort, my mawkish tolerance is probably higher than many - but this is bananas.
