I'm like that with loads of music.

I don't especially dig prog rock, but my brother does, and he foists the occasional record onto me which I listen to, decide is s**t and never listen to again. But I've been with him to see the same bands live and loved it.

Same deal with loads of stuff. ?berbeard folk music. Jazz.
