but that doesn't change the fact that there needs to be a fundamental reassessment of what we can expect the state to provide for us (much less than it currently provides). This follows as a simple matter of pounds and pence, but there is also a principled, moral justification for it - in essence, it is better for people to be free of a dependent relationship with the state
