As someone mebntinoed below, worthy was lucky in that he started managing us when the purse strings started to loosen and he had a fairly good budget to work with. He used his ONE strength (an ability to spot a bargain) and filled the team with good players who got us into the playoffs (just). As a result, he had a little bit more to spend and used this to get us promotion (again by buying bargains like hucks, svensson and mackenzie).
Now, we are in a different situation - we need a manager who is able to take a bunch of underachievers, motivate them, fill a few gaps in the squad and then take the league by storm. We need someone who is tactically a cut-above and who can work with a limited budget. We need someone who knows how to command the field from the dugout, think on his feet and make substitutions when our gameplay isn't working.
Who fits this bill? Most premiership managers, a few international coaches, and one or two up and coming managers, but NOT nigel worthington.
