Agree with your second para and most of your first

My real issue is how much of a step up is Villa just now? I have no illusions - they are a bigger club, no question - but I do question the quantum of their biggerness at this precise point. Indeed Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland are the four clubs that have always worried me in terms of taking PL away.

But Villa are in s**t state at the minute - for sure that means an opportunity to turn it round but will PL get the backing that's required?
