then we may well start the new season with a better squad than Villa. Lambert would be naive to walk into that job without contractual promises of huge financial backing.

Villa's squad needs a massive rebuilding job, 10-15 million wouldn't be enough, and selling Bent (their last big asset) would be detrimental to the task.
