Reading your post about Helveg below.

It's no coincidence that we conceded one goal in our last four home games last season, once Helveg got a proper run in the side.

Helveg was capable of passing the ball out of defence, the only defender we had who wouldn't just hoof the ball back to the opposition every time we won it in our own half.

The defence looked far more organised with Helveg in it - not just because of the experience he added but also because his positional play was so good.

Admittedly there was the odd bad tackle (Giggs), but (as you point us) his crossing was fantastic, his short passing, Chelsea aside, was generally decent and Bentley (much as I hate him) looked a far better player along Helveg on the R than he did with Eddy.

Even in Helveg's nightmarish game v Everton, where he should never have been played on the wing, he put Leon through with a glorious through ball - he offered skill even when he wasn't playing well, which is more than can be said for most of his team-mates last season, or this season's squad.

Oh, and his game v Liverpool last season was the best individual defensive performance of our campaign ...
