But its not about "his value" as an asset its more what is his value to us

Obviously this is all about opinion but in my view Grant Holt is worth more to us than he would be worth objectively as a player if valued by a thrid party.

1 more good season from Grant Holt for us could be the difference between us being debt free and another ?50m better off or back in the championship. If that happens then it doesn;t matter if he's worth 1 or 2 million or we just let his contract run down without getting anything for him. If we go down then yes we would get less for him so its a bit of a gamble but we are now in a financial position where we can afford to take that gamble.

Plus, as others have said, we won;t get a replacement for less than ?5m. Even the likes of Rodriguez and Rhodes are being priced at that level and they are completely unproven in the prem.
