I'm not sure about this "rumour". I would expect that any player failing a drugs test would appear in the FA's list of suspended players if a suspension has been handed out

Although I notice Abel Xavier isn't in there yet, presumably as he won't formally receive a ban until the results of his B sample is back and the Disciplinary Committee meets. Looking at the drug testing policy, there is no indication of anonymity being granted to players failing drugs tests

nor would I expect there to be one. For a start, you'd have Gordon "Fuckwit" Taylor of the PFA shouting from the rooftops about it.

Also, I don't believe the moral climate at the club would tolerate a player failing a drugs test. Anyone putting themselves out of action in that fashion would be plonked in front of the camera and expected to explain themselves. The club has absolutely nothing to gain from attempting to cover something like this up, and a monstertruck s**tload of extremely bad publicity pending if they tried. Because it WOULD get out somewhere.
