Nobody is forcing him out, why are you making this tenuous comparison?

Nobody will pay that kind of money for somebody who hasn't played a full season since 2008-2009, the kind of clubs that could afford the risk would be looking for better players with a proven track record, they would also have to pay Zak a signing on fee and agents fees, not worth it for a player who has played less than 25 games in the premier league.

The main point is if Lambert was going to sign him to a new contract he'd want to keep him, but Zak doesn't want to stay.

If Zak wanted to stay but Lambert wanted a reliable player (non injured) then he couldn't just sign Zak to a contract and force him out, no one would want to pay a fee that's worth it and you'd have to pay Zak all sorts of loyalty fees that would negate the incoming fee. Not to mention that Lambert would want the wages freed up to bring a new player immediately.

It would be very naive to give him a new contract in the hope that we can ship him off in order to make a substantial profit, if the board believed they could do it then they would do it. This isn't FIFA or football manager, in real life clubs aren't willing to invest in a potentially huge financial liability. If Whitbread was John Terry at the same age I could understand it, but he's not good enough to command a fee without proving a solid track record of long term fitness.
