Pietersen hasn't been at his best for about three years now, Bell is horribly inconsistent, Strauss may be reaching the end of the road and Cook remains somewhat of an enigma - like Bell, can be utterly brilliant but too often isn't. Trott? quality but again, not in great nick and with Morgan dropped, we'll have to see if Patel is up to the job.

Yes, form has a lot to do with it but consistency is so important in a leading side and, unlike the batsmen, our bowlers are consistently top class.
