rather than take the approach "whats in it for me?" (comes across as "willing to do it, but trying to eek out some sort of favour/more cash etc etc greedy bastard kinda way!) - you take the approach "Gentle reminder that at interview stage/previously you had communicted the desire to work locally only and that whilst you appreciate that maybe "occassionally" work dictates working further afield in THIS paticular case you have an issue in that *insert a valid reason NOT to work away* (ie, wife/kids/elderly parent support etc etc)" - then its a negotiation, ie, work away monday to friday BUT have wednesday afternoons off for that period of time, etc etc...... but go for more "time" to compensate being away, rather then "money!".
