on exercise yep, literally sleep with our rifle....

when I was down south all our weapons were kept in an armory, though we (like every military station world wide) has a force of live armed gurads on patrol and on guard duty 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year, and we all did a stint....

kinda miss my SLR 7.62mm..... got marksman with it....

much better than the later SA80 5.56mm, where bits fell off it and the shorter barrel meant loss of accuracy....
