12 year old girl killed while playing rugby at school

This has upset me a lot. I remember when my Lynz was 10 or 11 she told me that she'd been told that all the girls in her class had been informed that they had to play rugby as part of the PE curriculum. She was worried; I was livid. She was, and is, a tiny wee thing.

I sent a letter along with her, withdrawing her from the class, and she reported back that the school was insistent. The deputy head then enjoyed a burst of Furious Suggs down the phone, and she was exempted.

i don't know whether or not the girl in today's tragedy was playing because she wanted to, or if it was mandatory. If the former, then my heart goes out to her family, but if it's the latter, oh my God, oh my God, Oh My God.
