Sorry, not buying that at all

We looked organinsed when our back four consisted of Drury, Whitbread, Ayala and Naughton. Since Ward has come into the side we don't look likely to finish a game without conceding. In January we finally discovered our best defence and started to look solid from then on, until Ward came into the side. It's not the odd mistake either, it's at least a couple of really poor mistakes a game. His 'challenge' on Etherington cost us the game against Stoke while his he had to be bailed out by Russell Martin (superb block in the box denied a sure goal) after setting up Stoke for a counter whilst under no pressure, he was poor along with Barnett against Leicester (watch his decision making on Nugent's goal, almost as bad as Barnett's 'tackle') and his inability to read the game and get tight to his man (never mind tackle him!) invited pressure onto our back five all game long today. Wigan dominated for two reasons today, our midfield failed to win 50/50's and second balls whilst Wigan's forwards targeted Ward as a weakness.
